Avalon Palace Hotel

For a budget stay, I'd recommend this hotel, as long as you don't expect too much. The location is perfect and the service is great. Breakfast isn't amazing, but for the money it's honestly not bad. The rooms are alright, though the bathrooms are very dated and the beds should have been replaced a few years ago. The pool is fun for a swim. Cocktails are expensive and honestly not good.

The ocean view was amazing, and the staff were welcoming, friendly, and very helpful. The food and drinks were delicious. The vegan hair, body, and hand lotions and washes were high quality and excluded toxic or lower quality ingredients.

The location is superb and the place was very clean, but in my opinion this isn't a four-star hotel. Breakfast has lots of options, though after seven days it gets repetitive. Our bed was very uncomfortable the first night; the staff were accommodating and brought us a more comfortable mattress topper. The staff were otherwise okay. We were woken by inconsiderate neighbors on four of our seven nights because the walls are paper thin. Our room clearly needed a proper renovation, even though it was clean. The pool doesn't open until 11 for some reason and isn't heated. There were lots of wasps around the property, which made it hard to enjoy the pool and outdoor spaces. We were there in October, so I don't know if it's like that in other seasons. The location is great, but you'll need a car to get to most places. Overall, the hotel seems to have fallen behind the times.

We had a double room with a sea view, and the view was incredible, worth the extra cost. The mattress was a little firm, which suited us but might not suit everyone. The hotel is lovely and pretty quiet, with a great view from the pool. It takes about 20 minutes to walk to the town's main square. The way there is downhill, but some stretches mean walking on the road because there's no footpath. That may not suit families or people who aren't used to a lot of walking. Breakfast was good quality with lots of choice, including yoghurt and pancakes with plenty of toppings. It opens at 8am, which is later than would be helpful for trips and early starts. I couldn't fault the food myself, so I'm not sure why other reviews criticize it. The staff were all friendly, and Katerina at reception was great at suggesting beaches and places to visit. We didn't have many requests, but they helped with everything we asked.
