Daisy Hotel, Tsilivi

The location is the one real plus, just two minutes from a grocery store and five minutes from the beach. The hotel looks nice outside, but indoors it didn’t meet my expectations. The bathrooms are tiny, and the shower door doesn’t shut properly, so the floor gets flooded whenever you shower. AC costs €90 a week, which would have been better included in the price. You have to ask reception for a hairdryer, and the pillows were hard enough that it took me around three days to get used to them. Breakfast was the biggest disappointment. The staff member seemed bored and a little unfriendly, so asking questions felt uncomfortable. On our last day, I politely asked at 7:45 if we could take something since we had to leave at 8:20 and breakfast began at 8:00. The answer was a firm no, even though two days earlier breakfast had been available at 7:55. I don’t think letting us take two croissants would have been a problem. I don’t usually write negative reviews, but I left a bit disappointed.

The staff were very friendly, and the hotel is spacious, near Tsivili center and the beach. Rooms were simple but clean. We had to ask repeatedly for a hairdryer and only got one after three days. There was no signal or wifi in the rooms, so in the evenings we mostly spent time at reception to get online.

I was a little worried after reading the reviews, but check-in pleasantly surprised me. The receptionist, whose name I didn’t catch, was friendly, attentive and very helpful. I was sorry not to see her when we left, as she was on the later shift. The pool area and rooms were very clean, though the rooms could use some TLC. They’ve already done this to a few of them. The beach is a five-minute walk away, and the main strip takes around 10-15 minutes to reach. Oasis cocktail bar is well worth a visit for food and drinks.

The pool area was a highlight, with a big pool, a kids’ section that was great for my boy, and plenty of loungers. The beach and tsivili strip are both about a five-minute walk away. Our basic room was okay for the week, with a small but functional bathroom, safety doors on the balcony, and a kettle, glasses and other bits in the cupboards. The beds were so hard that I struggled to sleep throughout the holiday. The pool bar staff were another low point: they were rude to my brother, gave us lots of cents as change, spent time on their phones and laughed together instead of looking after people in the pool area. The person I think was the manager mostly complained at staff and smoked. Katerina, who worked night reception, was absolutely lovely and made us feel welcome and comfortable.
