FILOXENIA HOTEL

The food was very poor. I only found out on our last day that there was a playground with a swing and slide, tucked away in a hidden corner. When I asked the woman at the bar, she said there wasn't one. I was really disappointed; my baby could have used it every day. There's an elevator, but no ramp to get a stroller to it.

Filoxenia is a modest place, but it does what it offers well. The hotel was clean and tidy throughout, and the staff were friendly, polite, and helpful. It's about a 25-minute walk to the beach and 15 minutes into town. If all you want is somewhere to eat, drink, and lounge, it's not a bad choice. The property is split into two areas by a dirt road, with rooms and a pool on each side. Reception is in one part, while the bar and restaurant are in the other. Our room was in the reception area, and it was modern and nice. The shower and basin didn't drain well, though, so the bathroom partly flooded after each shower. We had two single beds pushed together, and one kept sliding away from the other. I don't know if choosing one larger bed was an option. The firm spring mattresses weren't to my taste; I didn't ask whether a foam topper was available. I also understand air conditioning costs extra, around 10 EUR a day. It wasn't hot enough for me to ask, but that would seem like a lot. The restaurant food was good, though the selection was on the small side, which makes sense for a hotel this size. I eat almost everything, so that didn't bother me. Since it's a buffet, getting to our table meant squeezing past other tables with food in our hands, which was inconvenient.

The food wasn't the best overall, but there was always something I'd enjoy, and I'd definitely stay here again. Our room was really nice, and the bar staff were friendly and welcoming. I couldn't fault them.

The price is starting to feel high for what you get, which is pretty basic. Most of the staff are very friendly, but the food is basic too, with a small, repetitive choice. I'd give it three stars at best.
