I waited 40 minutes for breakfast in their empty restaurant, only to get three tiny, tennis ball sized pancakes with syrup and sprinkles. The hostel itself was dark, cramped, and damp inside, though the kitchen looked decent. Reception is two blocks from the actual hostel. After seeing the state of the place, I told the owner I didn't feel comfortable and asked for a refund. They were rude and argued with me instead. Just do yourself a favor and don't stay here.

I enjoyed the hostel's theming, and the location inside Antigua's “Casco” is great, within walking distance of everything. It has what you need and includes breakfast at El Alquimista Café, which is a must if you're visiting Antigua. Some low rated reviews don't seem to account for the fact that this is a hostel at a very affordable price. For the cost, it can't be beat, and the owner and staff are the best.

The room we paid extra for had already been occupied that night, and the bathrooms badly need updating for the prices charged. My partner and I travel often, and this was a really disappointing experience. One person in our group couldn't come because their passport was stolen, so we understood that the booking couldn't be canceled and paid for an additional room. Still, the managers showed no empathy and charged us an exorbitant amount. They didn't offer so much as a drink or any small gesture. Please show some understanding. This isn't about being stingy, especially when peak season has already brought in a significant profit.
