Hostel la Quinta

I haven't stayed here, but the breakfast is AMAZING for just Q20. Fresh fruit, a pile of pancakes, and so cheap. It was so good I almost kept it to myself. Their wifi is also the best I've found in Antigua. Lost two stars because the wait for lunch was ridiculous and the food was bad.

I was traveling with a group of nine, staying in five single rooms and two doubles. We checked in late Wednesday with no trouble, then went out to explore Antigua after breakfast the next day. After three hours away, I came back and found that $200 USD had been stolen from my bag in room 17. The room had no windows to the outside and the door was locked, so whoever entered must have had a key. Management said they'd check the security footage, but later the woman at reception told us the manager hadn't seen anyone go in. When we asked to speak with him, she said he didn't want to discuss it. We filed a police report. After the manager learned we'd contacted the police, he got angry and threatened to kick everyone out. Very unprofessional. Don't stay here if you don't want your belongings stolen.

Someone in our traveling group had money stolen from his room, so we went to the police to file a report, as the manager had suggested. Then at 1 in the morning, the owner told an employee to kick us out because we were no longer welcome. Nothing like that has ever happened to me before.

Everything you need is within walking distance, including groceries, a bank, and the bus. The food is great too, and the staff are awesome. A great place to stay.
