Hotel Casa de las Fuentes

The rooms were clean and the staff friendly, and there’s a pleasant garden behind the facade, like with most buildings in Antigua. The rooms are basic and definitely not soundproof. It takes about 20 minutes to walk to the city centre. If you visit during Semana Santa, processions pass right in front of the hotel.

We were there for two nights with an international travel group of 13 students and faculty. The gardens were beautiful, and our catered meals were fresh and tasty. The rooms were clean, and the staff friendly, though many didn’t speak English, so have your translator app handy. It’s not too far from the city centre.

This was a peaceful place to wind down after the end of a medical mission. The atmosphere is gorgeous and secluded, with wholesome pets around the premises, and there’s even a little “library” with all sorts of books. Breakfast in the morning was amazing, and all the staff were so kind. It stays remarkably cool despite having no AC. You’re not far from just about anything on foot, including the plaza, tiendas, the Mercado Artesanías, restaurants, cafes, and bookstores. Bonnie’s stand at the Mercado Artesanías is highly recommended, he’s the sweetest. This is a great slice of Guatemala in the middle of the city. Don’t come expecting a vibrant, noisy party hotel. Also, don’t flush your toilet paper or drink the water anywhere in Guatemala.

The staff were wonderful, friendly, and very helpful. After checking out, we came back to ask if they could help us book COVID testing before our return to Florida. None of our family of four spoke Spanish, but the staff took care of the whole reservation for us. Thank you so much for the hospitality.
