The rooms are basic and practical, just right for sleeping and getting ready. The bathrooms are small, which makes sense for a budget hotel, so don’t expect luxury. I was very satisfied with the value and the surrounding area. The location is excellent, with everything in Antigua within walking distance.

The room felt damp, the service was poor, and the host was outright rude. I had a bad stay overall. Antigua has plenty of better places that are easy to find, and I’d recommend staying elsewhere.

The atrium is the highlight, and the location is nice. The room was acceptable but could use some sprucing up, and I think the furnishings need a coat of paint. The bathroom is tiny, and the fabric shower curtain has no plastic liner, so it holds a lot of dampness. If damp bothers you, I’d look elsewhere. There’s also a cute little café attached.

They’re truly pet friendly. They welcomed me and my puppies and made us feel at home in a country where most places aren’t pet friendly at all. The prices are great and the design is really nice. You get your own keys for the room and common space, so you don’t have to wake anyone when taking the dogs out in the middle of the night. Dog owners and people without dogs should check it out. You can’t go wrong here, it’s the best deal in Antigua.

Alvar, the host, is great and knows all the little-known spots for food and whatever else you might need. We’ll likely stay here every time we come to Antigua. And if you’re upstairs, the Volcan is there to greet you each morning. It’s such good value in the heart of the city, with a location that can’t be beat and probably the lowest price for comparable rooms anywhere in Antigua. The rooms are a little cramped and a touch moist, but the host was upfront about that before we booked.
