Hotel Aruma

The room was dirty, sheets included, and I had a big problem with ants, mosquitoes, and flies. I was tired and just wanted to crash, so I let the dirt go. The hotel itself is new, and that shows in the nice finishes and thoughtful setup, but watch those stairs. They're steeper than any I've seen, even at Tikal, and you'll need the railing, especially with luggage. The staff were kind, though communication between them seemed poor and things got confusing. The restaurant was similar: what they served seemed to change from day to day. I ordered breakfast once and got something quite different, so I figured I'd made a mistake. After that I skipped breakfast and tried ordering lunch, but they wouldn't serve me lunch that day.

The pool was a highlight, and the rooms were clean and comfortable. Staff were pleasant and helpful, too. The price was very good, especially since they don't charge tourists more, which few places around here seem to do. I'd definitely recommend staying here.

Angel was so patient and kind with me, even though I don't speak Spanish. He made sure we could communicate and was really helpful. The fish was great and the beer was cold. I'll definitely stop again!

A good value if you want somewhere quieter than Flores. The room was clean, and both the air conditioning and TV worked well. Staff were friendly and helpful. For such a sleepy little town, there are several restaurant choices, plus nice views of the lake.
