Central 10 Hostel

Within ten minutes of arriving, the front desk charged us 100 quetzales more than the online price. Right after we left our bags in the dorm, our Canadian friend was robbed walking into the hostel. Several people have been robbed here over the last couple of months, including someone the night before at exactly the same time. The hostel hasn't done anything about it, and neither did the security guard just 15 meters away with a shotgun in his hand. My friend is now stuck canceling cards, rebooking flights, replacing his passport, and spending ages at the embassy. This area used to be safe. If only the people running the place cared. Don't stay here unless you want to get robbed.

The one downside for a boutique hostel is that the bathroom isn't ensuite. Otherwise, it was an elegant, beautiful stay: the staff were very friendly, everything was spick and span, and there was a nice outdoor sitting area and swimming pool. Breakfast was included and good, and the place is in a good area of zone 10.

I've given it three chances, and they dropped the ball every time, so I'm done. One bathroom has been out of service for over a month. There are no luggage lockers or anywhere to lock valuables, the place has zero atmosphere, and there are mosquitoes. Only one staff member speaks English, and the breakfast is the lamest ever.

A great place to land when arriving in Guatemala. The area feels safe, with loads of restaurants and stores nearby. Staff were extremely nice and helpful, everything was super clean, and breakfast pancakes were really yummy. The kitchen is perfectly equipped, and the pool is a great bonus. Showers were hot and clean. We recommend it!
