Courtyard Guatemala City

The room itself was good, with a nice bed and a decent-sized bathroom, but the location didn’t feel safe. My first room smelled really bad, so I had to request another. I also asked for a working hairdryer, but it never arrived. The ice machines weren’t working, and the gym had water leaking from the ceiling and no air conditioning. Breakfast was mediocre. There’s no spa or pool.

After coming from lake Atitlan, my husband and I stayed here the night before an early afternoon flight. Being close to the airport took a lot of the stress out of the evening. The hotel looked just like its Google pictures and delivered what it advertised. It’s in a nice area, with several food options a 5-10 minute walk away, which was ideal.

I was extremely disappointed by our stay at Guatemala City Marriott Hotel, and the problems weren’t resolved while we were there. The room had stained towels and washcloths, marks and debris on the couches, a television that didn’t work, and no hot water. We reported the issues downstairs and were told someone would come, but nobody did. When we went back for clean washcloths, staff said none were available. By around 8:00 PM, after waiting without help, I had booked another hotel so my family wouldn’t have to stay in those conditions. They offered to change our room then, but we had already made other arrangements because the problems hadn’t been fixed in time. I have photos documenting the room and can provide them if requested. This fell far short of the standards I expect from a Marriott property. I respectfully ask that the matter be reviewed and an appropriate resolution provided.

There’s a parking garage, so I didn’t worry about our rental car, and several restaurants are an easy walk away. The area seemed safe even at night. The hotel is very nice and handy for both the airport and downtown activities.
