Hostal Los Lagos Inn

We had an okay room with a private bath, just what we needed for a night before an early flight. The hosts were welcoming and accommodating, and breakfast was a typical one and a great way to start the day. They speak Spanish, though the female host could communicate very well in English, if you ask me. The place is in a gated community, which felt like extra security to me. I met several younger women traveling solo who also felt safe there.

I’ve stayed here with family and mission teams since 2009, and I love the place. It’s very convenient for the airport. The owners are welcoming and always take excellent care of us.

The staff are really kind. It’s an easy walk from Aurora International Airport, though they also have free shuttle rides that leave once an hour during certain parts of the day.

The facilities were clean and airy, with lots of places to sit and relax. We had a roomy room and a big balcony with comfortable patio chairs. Breakfast was good and filling, with plenty of coffee. The shower floor was slippery, and the water was on the cool side, though refreshing. Plan on earplugs if noise bothers you, since the airport is only a few blocks away. The hostel is in a gated community, so look for the large gate and guard booth. Tell the guard where you’re headed, and they’ll call the hostel. Walking to or from the airport is convenient in daylight, but the road out of the airport is very poorly lit. We took an Uber from arrivals for 22qtz, as we arrived around midnight. If you get there before 21:00, free hotel transport may be arranged. The staff were very nice and organized transport for us to Antigua. There aren’t really restaurants nearby, so we ate at the airport.
