The colonial building is lovely and could be so much more, but the hotel feels neglected. My room felt grubby, the bed was very old, and hot water came and went. In a front room, the traffic noise was unbearable.

The staff were friendly and the price was good. We could walk to lots of useful places, and as tourists we appreciated being able to pay by card instead of exchanging money. Just be aware that “having breakfast” means you can buy it in the hotel cafeteria, not that it comes with the room.

The cafe was a letdown, worst breakfast I had in Central America. The place itself has a lot of character, though. My only other gripe was that the WiFi didn’t quite reach my bed 😁

We liked our first stay enough to come back for another. It’s a great-value old colonial building in a clean, safe part of Guatemala City, with everything within walking distance.

The courtyard was peaceful, and the hotel is well placed for the city center. Staff were friendly, though there wasn’t anyone fluent in English. I stayed in two rooms in different corners of the hotel, and WiFi was weak at the far ends of both.
