Hotel Centenario

The breakfast was a real plus: it comes with the room and is served at the restaurant next door, Patsy. That adds a lot of value. The location is great too, with two historic buildings just steps away, and the area felt much safer than most of Guatemala City. We didn't rent a car, so I can't comment on parking. We would stay again. Our room was a bit small, but that was fine since cleanliness matters more to me. It was clean, the bed was average for comfort, the TV worked and had basic cable, and the shower had hot water. The shower area does need work because there's visible mold. The building is old, and in old cement buildings in tropical places I've often seen the same issue. The hotel is showing its age, though we liked its rustic feel, and the building and decor need upkeep before they deteriorate further. Umberto was kind and always ready to help. For the price, the place is great. I'd recommend it if you're not bothered by small imperfections.

The free breakfast at Patsy was the best part. It was delicious, and the staff there were very friendly. There's also a lot nearby, from restaurants and tiendas to the underground market a few blocks away. We felt safe walking around even at night, with police officers everywhere. The hotel is in a beautiful spot in an old building. The rooms are small but fine for sleeping, clean in general, and have private bathrooms. The front desk staff were very friendly. It could definitely use a redo, but at 295 quetxales a night, it's great for the price. I'd recommend it to travelers.

The main drawback is parking. It's free from 7:00 pm to 7:30 am, but outside those hours you'll pay extra, and finding a space at all is a matter of luck. If you're coming without a car, I'd recommend the hotel. The rooms are clean and comfortable for an inexpensive place. You get hot water, cable on a CRT TV, and WiFi only in the lobby.

It's very central, but there were cockroaches and the place was dirty. I don't recommend it.
