Hotel el Delfin

The staff were super helpful and friendly, so no complaints there. This review is only about the rooms with shared toilets and bathrooms, not the private rooms, which I can’t speak for. The room felt more like a broom closet than a proper room. It was noisy, had no direct roof, and was dirty. The pillows were nasty and didn’t have proper covers. At €10 I might have seen it differently, but these rooms are much too expensive for what you get. After seeing ours, we booked at a slightly more expensive hotel nearby instead.

Breakfast was included, which was a nice bonus, with eggs, beans, bread, and so on. The staff were friendly enough, and there weren’t many foreigners around, mostly locals on holiday. The rooms are overpriced for what they are. You can’t use the kitchen or bring drinks or food into the hotel, and the pool could be cleaned more often.

During the week it’s a quiet beach hotel with great food, lovely staff, charming facilities, and a pool. On weekends, live music brings locals and visitors together to dance and have fun. I love spending time here. Every time I return, it feels like a second home and family.

The three-bedroom rooms work well if you're traveling with a group and watching your budget. I’d pick a room with its own bathroom, though, since it comes with a ceiling fan. I loved staying here and would come back whenever I’m in Monterrico.
