Hotel y Rest las Cristalinas

The bedrooms were big, the beds comfortable, and the location was great. The staff were lovely and really helpful, and they kindly kept our luggage for a few days. I’d highly recommend this place, it has a lot going for it 👌

I didn’t stay at the hotel, I used its laundry service. It costs 5 Q per pound, the staff are friendly, the area feels safe, and there are western restaurants nearby. The laundry was usually done nicely, clean and folded, which is why I kept using the service. I’d normally say it was decent, but they didn’t honor their stated timing. I dropped off my clothes in the early afternoon and was told they’d be ready later that night or in the morning. Since I was leaving the next day, I checked again, and they then said they couldn’t wash it in the time promised. Late that evening, after it had sat untouched behind the desk for over seven hours, I had to take my dirty laundry back. I would have gladly paid double to get it done on time, but staff had assured me at drop-off that it wouldn’t be a problem. The poor communication and service caused a major inconvenience, especially after a motorcycle trip and with a several-night hike starting the next day. Other laundry services could have handled it. If you need your clothes by a certain time, make sure to confirm the timing with multiple staff.

We were recommended this place, but the first night there was a party going on all night and it was incredibly loud. Then our toilet broke and leaked water all over the floor. We asked to move rooms, and the next one was better, though the staff’s attitude didn’t feel very helpful. When we asked for coffee, the owner said, “you have to pay more,” so it was $2 US per cup. We also noticed they were watering down the coffee. On our last day we’d paid for breakfast and asked to have it at 7:30 because we were leaving. The restaurant was closed when we arrived, and we waited until almost 8 before getting the meal. With only 15 minutes to eat, we had to rush to catch our bus. Service was poor, the place wasn’t clean, and laundry hung by the owners was right outside our front door. The cushions were dirty, and dogs were lying all over the seats and cushions. I’ll never return or recommend it.

We paid 175Q per night for room 10, which they described as the best room. It had windows on two sides and a view over the lake, though the Wi-Fi barely worked in there. Breakfast was included and fabulous, and the Wi-Fi worked well in the breakfast area. It’s in a good location, the staff were nice, and I’d recommend this lovely little hotel.
