We planned on a week at AvivA, loved it so much that we stayed three extra days. The family who run it are wonderful and went out of their way with activity plans and ideas, and every employee was kind and eager to make the stay feel five star. The restaurant was the best we ate at on the lake, with delicious food from a carefully created menu by a top chef. Little thoughtful touches in the rooms made them feel special, and waking up to the volcanoes across the lake was magical. AvivA is much more than a beautiful, luxurious hotel.

Marcela, the owner, deserves a special mention for her thoughtful hospitality. You can tell she cares about each guest’s experience. The kitchen staff were warm and attentive, too. We stayed at Aviva Hotel for a few nights while visiting Lake Atitlán, and it became one of the trip’s highlights. Tucked away in Tzununa, it felt secluded and peaceful, with lovely lake views and quiet nights. There isn’t much nearby, so we ate most meals at the hotel, which worked out well. We tried almost everything on the restaurant menu and each dish was consistently delicious. The clean, modern, newly built room was our favorite stay of all the places we visited in Guatemala. Highly recommend for a peaceful, scenic stay that’s thoughtfully run.

The team arranged all our transport before we arrived, from Guatemala City to the hotel and later on to Antigua, making the travel easy and stress-free. Marcella was wonderful, always available and generous with recommendations for restaurants, outings, and excursions. She went out of her way to help us. We stayed four days, and the room was beautiful, comfortable, and impeccably maintained. Service, food, and cleanliness all exceeded what I expected. The staff were available and genuinely cared about making us feel welcome and looked after. From beginning to end it was an outstanding stay. I highly recommend the hotel, and would absolutely stay again if I return to this part of the world.

The restaurant is fantastic, and breakfast is included. Service was top-tier, with easy transportation arrangements and helpful recommendations. Our room had everything we needed, including a great coffee setup and very comfortable bedding. The rooms are among the most beautiful on Lake Atitlan, though all of them are stunning, so get a lake view if you can. We were so happy we booked Hotel Aviva and hope to return someday.

Fuego volcano is visible from the restaurant terrace, and seeing it erupt during breakfast was magical. Our room and patio also looked right out to the lake and surrounding volcanoes. AvivA is beautifully designed, with well-kept gardens, and the food was consistently excellent. Breakfast was delicious, and we ate dinner there every night, enjoying the unique flavors and lovely presentation. The setting was peaceful and close to nature, away from traffic and tuktuks, but still easy to reach. The dock is a short walk away, with boats every few minutes, and Tzununa is central enough for quick boat trips to other towns. The owner and staff were welcoming, kind, and attentive. When our plans changed at the last minute, they smoothly arranged transport and booked a hotel in another city for us. Their tips on tours, sights, and restaurants improved our trip. We loved our stay and will remember the place forever.
