The balcony and kitchen were great, and the location worked well. The room's window needed a lock, so it didn't feel secure, but the family was usually around and we felt safe. Staff were caring and respectful.

The owners were kind, especially the older woman, who was polite and helpful. The shared bathroom was decent, though the shower water was very cold. Our room was stuffy, ugly, and didn't seem clean. It had only a bed, no AC or fan, and a small window facing a big living room-kitchen. We asked for a fan and got a little one. Getting to the hostel meant going through the parking garage. It was just a miserable room.

I came to Santiago for a couple of days after my San Pedro plans fell through, and was glad I found this place. Staying right in the community made for a real immersion, and I walked around town and hiked Volcan Toliman with guide Adolfono, who reception can connect you with. Heidi's hospitality was wonderful, the room was clean, and I'm grateful I stayed here. I'm an easygoing budget traveler, and it suited me perfectly. I had a fantastic typical dinner there one night, and loved having the big kitchen, couch, and balconies. Thank you, Heidi and Family!

Q120 a night felt steep for such a tiny room, though it still seemed to be the least expensive choice in Santiago. I stayed two nights, sharing the bathroom and kitchen.
