Hotel el Campanario

We felt completely safe with an armed guard outside all the time, and we'd gladly stay here again. The rooftop restaurant is open-air, with lovely views of Comayaqua and the mountains, and the breakfasts were delicious Honduran food. Our room was comfortable, with its own bathroom, air conditioning, and a large flat-screen TV. It's next to the mall and about a 10-15 minute walk from the Plaza. The staff made the stay especially enjoyable: the night manager was patient and tried to understand my translated English despite not speaking English himself. The day manager spoke excellent English, which helped since my Spanish is terrible.

The workers and service were nice, but this stay was ridiculous and nowhere near worth $240 for two nights. Someone used a key to come into my room as though they'd been assigned the same room, and saw me naked on the bed. I didn't get a washcloth, just a ripped towel, and hot water was never guaranteed. The AC dripped onto my pillows and bounced water onto my face all night. There was no fridge or microwave, and dogs barked and fought every night, so sleeping after midnight was a struggle. This place felt so ghetto and ridiculous. I'm never coming back.

The staff were helpful and the place was clean. The neighborhood is noisy, and there are lots of stairs.

Such a unique place. Great!
