Hotel Rosalila

The price of a private room is hard to beat in the area, and the location is close enough to walk to all the attractions in Copan. The rooms are basic but have what you need for a cozy stay, and the facilities were spotless and comfortable. There’s lots of shade in the common area. The staff were kind and helpful, especially Etta (pronounced "E-ta"), even with my very basic Spanish. Breakfast runs from 8a-9a; you can ask for extra items, but they cost more. The pool is off site, and the wifi and fan worked perfectly.

The only good part of my stay was the kind person at reception, though he couldn't speak English and communication was difficult. My room at Hotel Rosalila in Copan smelled overwhelmingly foul and mouldy, like something decaying, and felt uninhabitable. Electricity went out overnight, stopping the fan and leaving the room unbearably hot. Power didn't return until 6:00 PM the next day, so I went without proper ventilation for a long time. The advertised free breakfast wasn't available either. This was easily the worst hotel experience I've had, with poor conditions and missing basics. I strongly advise against staying here.

I only learned from another review that there was a pool off site. No one told us breakfast was served from 8-9am either. The staff spoke no English and didn't make an effort to understand or use gestures, even with slow Spanish.

The owner makes breakfast and adds a personal touch by remembering your name and using it when serving you. Breakfast is included. The facilities are limited, but cover the basics, with an ensuite bathroom and a towel for each bed. The hotel is well placed for the city's main attractions, park, banks, food and even bus stations; the archaeological site is just a 25-minute walk away. An amazing hotel with even more amazing staff. I recommend it.
