Clarion Suites Roatan at Pineapple Villas

The staff were the highlight, from the front desk to reservations and the concierge. They were all so nice and willing to go above and beyond. Jake helped arrange a car delivery and handled reservations, texting along the way to make sure I was happy. The place is super nice, the pools are better than at most high end resorts, and Herby’s has great food.

We’ve already been here three times, and it’s become our family’s go-to vacation spot. There’s a peaceful tropical feel around the property, and the pools are beautiful and well cared for. Nearby shops and restaurants are handy, especially for families, as the area is growing fast. The beach access leads to a lovely quiet spot about 10 minutes away, and our kids especially loved snorkeling at Big French Key. We also ate at the resort almost every day. The restaurants offer everything from quality U.S. meats to tasty local dishes, and the service was consistently great. Evening entertainment at Herby’s was a blast, especially karaoke night, which felt fun and welcoming for everyone. We’re looking forward to our next family trip here.

We ended up at this hotel after our flight was canceled. If I’d paid for it myself, I would’ve asked for my money back. The suite looked nice, with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a full kitchen, a spacious living room, and more than a small family or long stay might need. We saw several pools, too. The grill was closed when we arrived, but the sports bar food was fine. The night was awful, though. The neighbors partied and yelled all night, even after we called the front desk more than once. The air conditioner was just as loud, and motorcycles and loud cars sped down the street. The curtains didn’t block the resort lights. The master bedroom was hot and stuffy when we arrived. We turned on the AC before dinner, but after an hour it had barely helped and was incredibly noisy, so we slept in the smaller, cooler bedroom with its mini-split AC. That room’s door opens to the front walk and patio, where the neighbors gathered to drink, play music, and shout. We called around 11, after quiet hours, and again at 3 a.m. when yelling and laughter woke us both, but things didn’t improve. Between the churning AC and traffic, we got no sleep before our 6 a.m. shuttle to the airport. Maybe we were just unlucky with the room, neighbors, and traffic that night.

A suite gave me room to spread out, and the separate living area was useful for relaxing or working. It felt like a home away from home, with a large comfortable bed, tasteful modern furnishings, and a kitchenette equipped with what I needed for a short stay. I also had a good amount of privacy from neighboring rooms. That extra space and comfort can make a real difference for families or longer trips. Just check ahead about the kitchen setup, since equipment can vary from one suite to another.
