The Supreme King has a lovely view and a nice deck, but the mattress needs replacing. You sink into a deep hole, and I left with a sore back. A couple of luggage racks would be helpful so one person doesn’t have to leave a suitcase on the floor. They provide coffee pods, but only two complimentary waters to start with, so bottled water for making coffee would be a nice extra. All the staff were very nice, though communication could be better. We didn't learn until the night before leaving that complimentary SUPs were available. Leaf blowers ran noisily during the day, which wasn't relaxing. We visited during an unusual spell of rain and a surge of Surgassum that nearly devastated the beaches, but staff worked tirelessly to restore them. West End is a short walk away, with plenty of good, inexpensive local and international food. We always felt safe there, though the beaches in West Bay are much nicer. The island is beautiful and its people were great, but this isn’t a five-star stay, two at best. One tip: the hotel says water taxis cost $5 per person, so agree on the price before boarding or they may overcharge you. Some good places to eat are Anthony’s Jerk Chicken, Titas, Pur la Vida, The Drunken Sailor, Escondido, Tequila Jacks, and C Level Pizza.

We had several villas for a long February weekend with a big mix of family and friends. The restaurant and bar were excellent, and the property had what our group needed, including a gym. We didn't try the horses, though I imagine that would be fun too. From the first contact through the time after booking, the staff were friendly, capable, and helpful. A great experience, and one I'd recommend.

We spent a week in one of the houses at Luna Beach Resort. Julio Rivers looked after us at Luna Bar and Grill, remembered us from the night before, checked in several times, and had terrific suggestions. The atmosphere was lovely, and everyone we encountered was welcoming. We'd happily recommend it.

Luna the black-and-white dog pretty much adopted us for the week. Bring her a little food and she'll shower you with affection. The staff were just as lovely, always friendly, helpful, and fun. We liked West End much more than West Bay, with its scuba crowd and local culture. West Bay has more of a busy resort beach feel. Luna Beach gave us the comfort we wanted and made it easy to reach West End, about a 20-minute walk away. West Bay is walkable too, though there are rocky patches to get over near the start, so take it slowly. Cruise passengers come through for excursions and beach access, but it never bothered us. A fantastic place to spend a week in Roatan.

Steph made the bar feel welcoming and relaxed. She was helpful with both cocktail and lunch ideas, and chatted about what it had been like moving to the island. Her suggestion of Hummus for lunch hit the spot on a hot, sunny day, just the right amount.
