Puerta Azul

The covered patio was a lovely place to spend a few days when the weather wasn't ideal, playing games and chatting with the nice guests drawn to this quiet bayside oasis. The beach was well kept and only steps from our room. We celebrated our 40th anniversary here, and it was wonderful. The owners, Talia and Antonio, and the staff went far beyond what we'd expected. They made a delicious breakfast for us each day and prepared special items since I'm vegetarian. The lunches and dinners we had were as good as the best restaurants we tried on the island. Our casita was comfortable and well appointed, with air conditioning and WiFi. Everything worked well. We love this place. Thanks for an amazing vacation!

The way the staff treated me really set Puerta Azul apart. Noel welcomed me, and by the time I left four nights later, he felt more like a friend. I was traveling solo as a woman and felt very safe while still having privacy. When I told Antonio I planned to scatter my father's ashes in the ocean, he arranged a complimentary boat ride. I deeply appreciated that care. I stayed in Jan 2026, and the hotel was beautifully done, intimate, and lush, with a private dock full of hammocks. The sunsets were stellar. My room was immaculate, and every meal I ate was fresh, flavorful, and well prepared. Chef Rose's food was delicious, especially those coconut shrimp I still miss, and Julie was always friendly and helpful. Thanks to everyone at Puerta Azul. I know I've missed some names, and I hope to return sooner rather than later.

The food was amazing, the staff were so friendly, and the beds were very comfortable. We also booked the guided boat trip they offer, stopping at different snorkeling spots. They packed a delicious lunch and snacks for the various parts of the outing. It was definitely a highlight, and I'd recommend it for getting to know more of the island. Puerta Azul feels like an oasis. The place is small, but thoughtfully laid out, with great landscaping and a 400ft dock lined with hammocks where we spent much of our time. From the end of the dock, the reef is a five minute swim away, and you can also get out on the water in a kayak or on paddle boards. It felt like just us and the reef, with hardly any boats passing by this far from the busy area. We'd just returned from our stay and couldn't be happier with the choice. It's much quieter and more peaceful than West Bay. I usually like to explore, but was content to relax on the property. If you want to get out, it's easy to take a cab to West Bay or West End. When we come back to Roatan, we're staying here again.

We loved the privacy of our oceanfront villa and its incredible views. The whole resort is beautiful and scenic, and being a little removed from tourist spots like West Bay was worth it for the peace and quiet. The food was amazing every time. Rosa and Noelle were so welcoming and kind. Sasha helped us arrange taxis and some great excursions. Moses was a kind, welcome sight after our long travel day, so book your airport transportation through the resort. And make use of their complimentary kayaks and paddle boards!
