I did not feel safe here, and with my 6 year old daughter along, we wouldn’t go near the beach. Teenagers were riding four wheelers up and down it, and it was full of Jeeps, side by sides, and 4x4's. How could we enjoy our stay when she couldn’t use the beach? There was trash all over the property, rude staff, horrible facilities, and a completely broken sliding glass door in our room, as shown in the photos. You also have to pay extra to use the pool and restaurant. One day, while we were driving back into Tela, a group of locals blocked the road, forced my car to stop, and asked for money. This hotel is in a very dangerous location. I didn’t feel safe being here. It was a complete waste of money.

Honduras Shore Plantation charges L200 just to spend the day at the hotel, and it can’t be used toward purchases. The food took about two hours to arrive and was okay, nothing special. The drinks weren’t great either.

The food was wonderful, even though it cost a lot. The service at the oceanfront meal was the problem: our group got its dishes at widely spaced times, and the wait was extremely long. Our server didn’t speak English, and we only knew a little Spanish, so it was hard to communicate. We were there for just one night, but the room was beautiful and clean and we enjoyed the beach. We’d come back, but eat somewhere else.

The food, drinks, and helpful staff make the restaurant worth visiting, though it gets very busy, so arrive early and order ahead. There’s an airy, open dining area where you can sit by the pool or face the beach, which is clean and lovely. I haven’t stayed at the hotel, so this is only about the restaurant. The drive is the weak point: the road is in really bad shape, and one route goes over sand, which isn’t suitable for a sedan. I hope the owners can improve access, because the place itself is amazing.

We phoned ahead and were told there’d be no problem as long as we arrived before 5, but after the slow drive over dirt roads full of holes, they said they were full and we’d have to wait about two hours to get in. It was a terrible experience, especially after taking the time to call first.
