The people at Anchor Inn treated me like family, and when I needed urgent medical help after an injury, the community made sure I got proper care. I believe that support kept me from suffering severe brain damage or possibly dying. I’d never had people rally around me like that before. My experience at Utila Dive Center after the injury was very different, and I also felt I’d been ripped off there for 3k. I can’t say whether the other problems I ran into were just part of island life. After the pandemic, when the island seemed short on money, I got hustled for 20 limps while trying to play soccer and saw lots of panhandlers. At Anchor Inn, the gated grounds gave me a peaceful refuge from all of that. The place is beautiful, clean, and has an amazing kitchen. It’s even more majestic in person, from the surroundings to the people. If it’s your first visit to Utila, I’d recommend having the Anchor Inn family looking out for you. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else.

I’ve been living at Anchor Inn for six months and absolutely love it. It’s quiet, clean, and beautiful, and I’ve hardly had any bugs in the house the whole time. The landlady is really friendly and helps with whatever problems come up. I’d recommend staying here whether you’re moving to Utila or just looking for a relaxing few-week vacation.

It’s a cheap place, so being away from the beach is fine with me. I moved here to get away from UDC/Mango Inn and their rapey vibes.
