Apartments Maria

The room and bathroom were very clean, and the air conditioning worked brilliantly. It looked fairly new and had a remote. There’s no pool, but the view is lovely. I saw no other guests in the apartments, and the TV only had Croatian-language channels. The decor felt very tired, though, and seemed last refurbished in the 80s or 90s. It was cheaper to stay here, but for me it’s not all about the money. I’d strongly advise paying a bit more for English-speaking staff, better customer service, and a pool. I have mobility problems and asked for a low-floor room or one near a lift. Unfortunately, Maria doesn’t speak English, and I was disappointed to find my room was on the third floor, up concrete steps with no lift. I’d booked partly because reviews mentioned Maria’s daughter, who had been very helpful to people travelling alone, but she’d moved away for work and wasn’t available for advice or help. I felt very isolated because nobody there spoke English. The place was extremely quiet at the end of a dirt road, which may suit some people, but it made me feel lonely. I had a panic attack followed by several more, and ended up stuck in my room for four days and nights. Maria came to clean the room, and I told her I was very anxious and urgently needed a bottle of water because I was too anxious to go into town. I didn’t get the water because neither Maria nor her friend understood me.
