Hotel Croatia Cavtat

The room was spacious and spotless, and all the staff were lovely. Breakfast had a great range, and dinner at the steakhouse was amazing. Cavtat itself is beautiful. The hotel sits up a hill or steps, but there's a free buggy for getting up and down. The walk through the gardens is lovely too.

The staff are extremely kind and respectful, and the hotel smells beautiful. Rooms are a good size, and you have both an indoor and outdoor pool. Breakfast is buffet style, with eggs, sausages, bacon, bread, meats, cheeses, yogurts, oatmeal, and cereal. You can explore Cavtat on foot or just stay at the hotel, which is in a prime spot. Parking is free, but it's up a steep hill, so be ready for plenty of climbing. Everything involves steep hills or stairs. Dinner costs 20 euros per person, with drinks extra. It could be better. For that money I'd rather walk along the Cavtat boardwalk and get a better meal for less.

We had a very relaxing week and plan to return soon. The hotel has plenty of space inside and out, and the location is beautiful. All the staff were friendly, helpful, and efficient, the bars were well run, and the restaurant had a good selection of quality food. Luce was especially brilliant at her job. Our room needs refurbishment, which I understand is being done this closed season.

Of the 3 hotels we visited, this was by far the best value and had the most comfortable beds. One gentleman in our group was 6'5" and often struggles to find beds that fit him, but these were big enough for him to sleep well. They seemed to be two king-sized double beds pushed together, so we all had plenty of room. There's a good range at the buffet meals: fried breakfast, fruit, cereals, European breakfast choices, and dinner with cooked food, salads, meats, boiled eggs, and cold meats like chicken, turkey, or ham. Dalmatian salads were on the menu occasionally. The hotel is right by the sea and has beautiful sunset views. Getting down there is difficult, as you have to climb over rocks. There's a nice little bar halfway down, and trolleys run regularly every 10 minutes. They cost nothing, though perhaps you could give the driver a small tip. Ask at the hotel before you leave; they'll give you a phone number to call when you want to come back.
