Angelic Apartments

This was one of the best places I found in Dubrovnik: it feels like a regular Croatian house rather than a commercial hotel, and the view of the city is better. It was very clean despite being small, with a small kitchen and the usual amenities. There are two rooms, a little living room and a little bedroom, plus a porch with a table and four chairs facing the sea and Dubrovnik old town. There’s also a couch, so four people can share the apartment quite well. It’s a bit pricey, but that’s Dubrovnik. The main drawback for me was parking. There’s a free space 300m uphill from the apartment, and driving up the hill was hell. The slope is close to 20%, the road is one lane with little room, and I got really scared when a small cat jumped out in front of the car on a bend. A car with hill-start assist would be great. There are some reasonably sloped parking spots near the supermarket and the Biker’s Club, and the walk from there is much better. Be ready for stairs around Dubrovnik: most streets are stairs. The apartment is two stairways down from Banje Beach, both public and private, about a 10 minute descent, and two stairways down from the old city entrance, around 15 minutes away. There’s a supermarket half a stairway away, with decent food prices and hours until 21:00, as well as a Biker’s Club that’s more like a cafe.
