The apartment was spotlessly clean, with stunning views across Dubrovnik. The included breakfast was excellent, and Ivo happily shared tips on getting around, places to visit, and restaurants. Ivo and Maria made the stay special with their friendliness and generosity. Fantastic hosts.

Ivo and Maria made our honeymoon trip so much fun. This was my second stay with Ivo, eight years after the first, and I came back with my wife. The rooms are very clean, the balcony views are amazing, and it's only a 10-15 minute walk to old town. Ivo arranged transfers, scooters, and anything else we asked for. We had beers together, he cooked us the best chevapchichi, and we sat on his alfresco talking about life. I can't put into words how great the trip was. Thank you both for everything, we hope to be back soon. Andrew and Lori

I regret booking Baltazar Apartments and wouldn't recommend it. My stay left me with a terrible first impression of Dubrovnik, and I felt the price was high for what I got. Payment was cash only, in Euros. I looked for another place, but most were sold out or over $600 USD a night. The apartment was clean, and there was a nice sea view from the balcony. But getting to and from Old Town was much harder than the reviews led me to expect. The roughly 400 steps were exhausting in the extreme heat. Ivo said the walk took no more than 10 minutes, but it took me about 20 minutes going down carefully. I ended up taking an Uber or bus back each night. Check-in was awful. Ivo couldn't meet me when I arrived, sent nobody else to help with my bags, and hadn't warned me that I'd be dropped beside a busy street with cars speeding by both ways. I had to cross it and haul my luggage down steep steps in the dark. When Ivo did arrive, he had me sit at a table and listen to him flirt with a Japanese tourist next door for nearly two hours before showing me my apartment. It felt like I was watching a couple on a first date. I found Ivo showy, nonstop talkative, and prone to exaggerated stories. His humor wasn't for me. Before I arrived, I told him on WhatsApp I was going to Korcula island. He replied that there was no room for me, they were sold out, and I shouldn't come. I missed the joke, though apparently he meant it as one. The AC worked so poorly that it barely cooled the room, and it pointed at a wall instead of the room's center. There was no airflow in the bedroom, not even a fan. It was so stifling and hot that I had to sleep on a fold-out chair in the front room, without a blanket and with the balcony door open all night. Ivo made me extremely uncomfortable. He was pushy and judgmental, acted as though he knew everyone and everything, and repeatedly made fun of me in front of other guests. He laughed at my dinner restaurant choice, questioned my day trip to Cavtat, and ridiculed me for wanting to reach the airport 2 1/2 hours before my flight. He insisted I only needed to arrive 30 minutes before boarding, but that wasn't his decision. Every day after I left, he came into my room, moved things around, and turned off the AC, even though I had asked him not to enter. He also messaged me on WhatsApp inviting me to his terrace for a cool breeze, a beer, and a “free aromatic massage.” I didn't reply. One morning there was no water, so after sweating all night I couldn't shower. When I raised it, he only made a joke about it. Such a huge disappointment. I would never stay here again.

Ivo made us feel like we were visiting an old friend in another country. He helped with everything we needed. My wife and I enjoyed walking from the apartment to the old town, and there's a minimarket nearby for basics. The place was comfortable, clean, and complete, with a fantastic terrace for breakfast, view, and neighborhood.

The apartment was clean and had superb sea views, but Ivo is the reason to stay at Baltazar. He's the best host I've come across, always there for you whatever time of day. He arranged our transfers without fuss, and was happy to have beers and drinks together every day if you wanted. My wife and I may come back next year just to say hello.
