Apartments Batala

The owner was friendly and very nice. She didn’t speak much English, and I know very little Croatian, but we still managed to communicate what we needed. Our room had a small kitchenette, lots of tea and coffee, and fresh milk in the fridge, a thoughtful touch. The bathroom was nice, and there was a pleasant garden at the back. We had room for our bikes and several doors that locked, which felt reassuring. There were guidebooks and holiday books too. It’s well placed for Babin Kuk, with the no. 6 bus into the old town or a 25 minute walk if you’re feeling energetic. Dubrovnik Beer Company’s tap rooms are close by for craft beer fans, and the harbourside is nearby as well, including the armoured vehicles there. Taverna Otto next door looked lovely, though we didn’t get a chance to eat there. I’m not actually sure Vasilis stayed here, judging by his reviews. Pics attached.

We had trouble communicating because the hostess, mrs nike, couldn’t speak English or German. The place wasn’t very clean either, and we found a cockroach on the second day. Worst of all, on our last day she rudely told us to check out at 10:00 in the morning because guests were expected, and said we had to leave immediately. We felt treated like rubbish rather than people, and left very sad. It was extremely expensive, and the people seemed unprofessional and impolite, not ready to host guests. Ask others and they’ll confirm what I’m saying.

Everything went really well!

The apartment was tidy and clean, with a kitchen stocked with everything you’d need and then some. The host is very kind. It’s an older place, so it may not suit anyone who dislikes old accommodation, but I’d recommend it if you want to experience the spirit of old Dubrovnik.
