Boutique Villa Root

The location worked out pretty well, with plenty of buses in both directions and about a half-hour walk to the old town. The room was basic for what we paid: a bed, a kettle on the floor and a small wardrobe, with nowhere much to sit and relax. There was no window, so it was dark, though we were out most of the time and it wasn't a huge problem. I woke up to an unexpected call around 11 pm from a number I didn't know. I only realized in the morning that it had come from the hotel, apparently about someone else locking the front door. I really didn't appreciate being woken up. It's okay if you're on a budget, but I think you could find better value elsewhere.

I can't give zero stars when one is the minimum. I booked over two months ahead, but heard nothing from the hotel before arriving. When I got there it was closed, with nobody at reception and no call, text or other instructions. The phone number listed on Google no longer worked for the hotel; I was told they no longer handled calls for the boutique. I tried reaching the hotel for hours before and after I arrived. The intermediary finally emailed the key and room code at 3 am. People at nearby restaurants and shops said this had happened before, but unfortunately couldn't help. The whole situation made my stay much more expensive.

Avoid this place. The rooms smelled of sewage, the sink drain was blocked, and the bed linen was dirty. There were no toiletries or room cleaning service, and it was very noisy.

Think twice before booking. It smelled like sewage, and the place looked nothing like the pictures.
