Villa Kate Dadic

Our stay at Villa Kate Dadić was great. The room was clean and comfortable, and the owner was welcoming. Niksa really went out of his way for us. Our Uber to the airport, booked for 3:40 a.m., was cancelled just minutes before pickup. I called Niksa in a panic, and he came within minutes to drive us there. We made our flight thanks to him, and we’re extremely grateful. Highly recommend staying here.

The rooms weren’t especially better than other cheap places we’ve stayed in Europe, and the location wasn’t very central. What made this place stand out was the owner. Dubrovnik gets overwhelmed with tourists, but he was overjoyed when we arrived. He took me onto the balcony, pointed out his favorite local restaurants and cafes, and gave me a beer. At other places, I’ve barely even seen an employee. I’ve never felt that kind of hospitality in another country.

We spent a week here in Dubrovnik. The hosts were lovely and helpful, and having free parking on site was useful. They also offered laundry for a small extra charge, which helped on a longer trip. For the price, the location was great, though it’s not right by Old Town. It’s walkable, maybe 20 minutes, and the maps make it look farther than it is. An Uber was about 7€ each way. There’s a nearby bus too, but we didn’t try it.

Our room had a sea view and was small but fine for two nights. The bathroom was separate, but it was still just for our use. It’s a 15-20 minute walk to the Old City, and check-in was lovely, with a beer and juice drink. The host shared recommendations, though we didn’t end up using them. I’d stay again. The one uncomfortable moment was when the host came into our room without being invited while I was having trouble with a window. I think he should have waited to be invited in.
