The good points were the location, the balcony, and a few useful touches. The shop was close, and the beach took 5-6 minutes to reach on foot. The balcony wasn’t too small and had an olive tree canopy in front, though there was nowhere to hang towels. Mrs. Gordana lent us a drying rack, which was kind, but this apartment should really have its own folding one for beach towels. She also changed the bathroom towels when needed. There was a hairdryer and an iron, too. Still, I’d have preferred to walk a bit farther to the beach if the apartment had shutters or blinds. We were in a two-bedroom apartment, and the heat was a real problem. None of the windows or balcony doors had shutters or blinds, so the afternoon sun came straight through the glass. The air conditioning couldn’t keep up. Our baby sleeps during that time, which made it especially hard on hot days. We also weren’t told when booking that cars were parked one behind another, with cars from her two apartments and the neighbors all involved. That setup itself wouldn’t have bothered us. On the third day, though, we forgot to tell her in advance that we were leaving to visit somewhere. We had let her know on time the previous day, but this time we asked her to contact the people with the other car just 15 minutes beforehand. We admitted we’d messed up and knew it was inconvenient. Instead of accepting our apology, Mrs. Gordana spent a long time explaining on the phone how unpleasant the situation was and that we couldn’t leave without notice. Her tone became more questionable with each reply, and she seemed reluctant to contact the car owner because she didn’t want to bother them. We got more and more nervous. In the end, I went to ask her in person and said I’d apologize to the gentleman myself. He immediately understood and said he’d come right over if there was a parking issue. We moved our car a little earlier than the others had said they’d need to move theirs, and we’d have done the same at any time, especially at a reasonable 5 p.m. We exchanged numbers with the neighbors then and had no more trouble. Parking itself wouldn’t have been a problem without all the unnecessary drama. The other major issue was Mrs. Gordana’s manner with us. From what I’ve read about other guests’ experiences, ours was different. She’d been kind when we booked, but not after we arrived. She didn’t say anything directly bad, but her communication felt very unpleasant. I won’t go into the whole story. Maybe she was just in a bad mood those days, but that’s how it felt to us. There was also a smell from the sink and bathroom. The kitchen smell could be an issue for anyone sleeping on the couch there. And although there was a drying line on the terrace belonging to her other apartment, Mrs. Gordana very firmly told us on arrival not to dry our towels there. That made the lack of a drying rack for this apartment stand out even more. Because of the bigger shortcomings and the unpleasant communication, I can only give this a barely passing rating.
