The kitchen has everything you need, including a toaster and kettle, and there are plenty of towels and loungers. It’s a great setup for a big family holiday. The old stone house and annex are impressive, and the owner is lovely.

The rooms all have en-suite bathrooms, and the showers are great. It’s clean and modern, and I’d happily return. Just keep in mind it’s pretty remote, with the nearest bar and restaurant about a 10-minute drive away. The pool is small and unheated, so it’s cold in late September, though that shouldn’t be an issue in summer. It sleeps 10, but living there with that many would be a squeeze. I’d say 8 is the limit. It can also feel cool at that time of year, so make sure you know how to use the heating.

There are only a few small issues, such as a loose towel rail, and the place is a long way inland. Still, it’s a lovely rustic finca that suits the Istrian landscape beautifully, and it works well for a group.
