I’m disappointed that I can’t leave this review on booking.com, because my complaint is about the service, not the accommodation itself, which I never got to see. My wife, parents, and I had booked the Art House in central Poreč for August 12-18, 2018, for €1,002. My father became ill and couldn’t travel because he was due to have an operation, so we cancelled promptly on June 25, 2018. Booking.com staff told me by phone that I’d get a full refund once the accommodation was re-let. I checked the site regularly and saw that it had been rented again for those dates. But only €698 of the €1,002 booking fee was returned. The landlady never told me which days the place had been unavailable to rent and therefore unusable for us. I paid €304 for somewhere I never saw. Whatever the accommodation is like, guests shouldn’t be treated this way. It’s a shame there’s no zero-star option.
