The Korana is only a short walk away, and the kids could play in the grassy field in front of the property while we watched from the balcony. Near the old wooden bridge, a little way down the path, there's a shady spot by the canyon walls where you can relax by the water. Check with the host first if swimming there matters to you, since the river can dry up after a low-snow winter and a dry summer. The hosts were friendly and helpful, and there are cats and dogs on the property. Smoking isn't allowed inside the apartment, though people do smoke elsewhere on the property, as is common in Croatia. The apartment has two bedrooms, five beds and two bathrooms, plus a washing machine, dryer and dishwasher. It was quiet and had all the comforts of home. Plitvice Lakes and other sights are nearby, along with Barac caves, horse riding, adrenaline parks, hiking trails and some decent restaurants. A note on getting there: Google Maps currently sends you to Rosandic Appartment, which is about 2 km short. Keep going straight to the crossing, with a market on the left, then turn left and continue to the last house on the right. The correction has been suggested and is under review. You can drive to a viewpoint over Plitvice Lakes rather than take the trails shown around the lakes. Go down to the bridge over the Korana, cross it, then turn left at the first opportunity. There's a sign there, followed by a few kilometres uphill to the Flora entrance in Poljanak. The viewpoint is inside Plitvice Park, so you need a valid ticket, although there isn't a ticket booth or formal entrance by those tracks. If you stay longer, keep your tickets, as plenty of places offer a discount when you show them.
