Ai Hostel

This is a small, family-run hostel with just four rooms, so it's very quiet. It's a good fit if you want a calm place, but probably not if you're after parties, lots of socializing, or group activities. The location is handy: the area feels safe and quiet, the airport bus station is nearby, supermarkets are a few minutes' walk away, and it's a 10-minute ride to the city center and port. Breakfast is included and good. You can't cook, but there's always fruit, snacks, and drinks for guests. The main issue I noticed at arrival was the smell in the men's bathroom. It has no window, and I don't know whether the exhaust fans are working properly, but there's often an unpleasant odor. I also think the hostel could be cleaner overall. One other thing: if you have an afternoon flight, you can leave your bags, but you can't wait in the hostel's waiting area. They're not obliged to offer that, though many places do, and having that option would be a plus.

The hostel was spotless, and our room had plenty of space, a comfortable bed, plus our own locker and socket. Each morning there was a lovely breakfast with lots to choose from. The staff were so warm and caring. They were always glad to recommend things to do in Split and took a real interest in our plans each day. We had a lot of fun talking with them, and the stay felt personal. Thank you so much for having us 🥰

Anja and her mother made my short stay such a sweet one. They were lovely, kind, and quick to help. The female dorm and bathrooms were clean, and the hostel felt welcoming. The room price included one of the best breakfasts I had on my trip, with so many tasty choices, and the AC kept the room comfortable. It's a handy location for many main attractions and places of interest. Anja's mother suggested a lovely beach for swimming, and Anja, your style is great, you looked so nicely dressed every day! 😍

The bed was good, but I didn't find the staff welcoming. The woman at the desk seemed to want to control everything, and was rude and strict. She never apologized for other guests' complaints, and always had an excuse. I felt watched and couldn't relax when she came into the room so often to do things. She also told me I was asking other guests the same questions when I asked her for something. When I asked to turn the AC off or down because it was 22 degrees at night and my throat hurt while I was trying to sleep, she refused. I even asked to raise it by just one degree, but only she could change the room temperature. The room felt like a fridge all night. She didn't explain breakfast either, so I only found out about it afterward. When I asked whether there was a trash bin in the room, she said there wasn't one because I didn't need it. She should consider that guests might need one.
