The room was simple but had what we needed, including tea facilities and a safe, and we got a friendly welcome. Breakfast costs extra. The Riva-facing rooms look over the promenade, and the hotel sits by the sea as part of the Palace. Finding the entrance took some effort: it’s off the square to the right, down an alley and up steep stairs. Reception is shared with Hotel Kastel. Since the area is pedestrianised, we had to be dropped about 100 metres away.

The room had a lovely outlook onto the square, and the double glazing did a great job. The kitchen and bathroom were excellent, and the facilities were great overall. The only snag was finding the place: there was no name displayed, and the email didn’t arrive until after we’d got there.

Right in the heart of the old town, with all its activity outside, yet the window kept the commotion away and the apartment felt peaceful inside. It’s simple, homey, and top quality. Thanks to the hosts.
