They managed to ruin the mood right at check-in. The receptionist didn’t understand English properly, and the way the staff member talked over the phone came across as if they knew everything and I knew nothing. I’ve run a travel company for more than 15 years, and that attitude was upsetting. They also said I had to pay 70 Euros per night for my four-year-old, even though the child didn’t need an extra bed. I’ve travelled to many countries and cities, and I’ve never had a hotel charge for a four-year-old apart from breakfast. When I mentioned having two large suitcases, the receptionist said she couldn’t do anything. The rooms may be good, but that cold treatment doesn’t make up for it. I work in the service industry too, and this isn’t the right way to treat a customer. I’ll definitely take the matter further with the Tourism Department so future guests aren’t treated this way.

Our staff were welcoming and made us feel at home, and breakfast was delicious. The bed and breakfast was a lovely place for our two-night stay. It’s a short walk from the ferry port, but far enough from the main streets to feel quaint and quiet. Highly recommend it. Thanks for a wonderful stay!

Elena greeted me by the roadside when our taxi arrived, took my luggage, and showed me the way to the hotel. They offered me a refreshing drink when I got there and took my passport while I enjoyed it. The room was a good size, with a couch area, table and chairs, and a separate bed area. Everything was provided, including tea, coffee, and water. The fridge was fully stocked, with reasonable prices. We chose our breakfast the day before, and there was a wonderful range of choices, plus cereals, fruit, and juices. Such a lovely stay. I’d definitely come back and stay longer next time.

The terrace and breakfast have made a lovely start to our stay. We’re here in July, so it’s nice to take a morning walk to Diocletians Palace before the heat really sets in. Finding the place can be a little tricky, but the houses are numbered, so look for 69. Parking’s difficult, though that comes with staying in the old town. We’re thrilled to be starting our Croatian adventures here.

Balatura is just beyond the old town’s busy streets, which made it a great base in Split. Our room felt spacious, clean, and almost new, with key card entry. The AC worked really well during our July stay and gave us a welcome break from the heat. Breakfast was nice each morning, and the staff were great about filling our water bottles.
