Central Square Heritage Hotel

The bed was uncomfortable, and the blankets were too small. Only one robe and one pair of slippers had been left for us, and the room was missing basic things like body moisturizer, hair conditioner, and even bottled water. The hotel was also difficult to find, and the closest parking we could get was about a seven-minute walk away.

The location is great, but I wouldn’t recommend staying here. On our two-week trip from Naples to Dubrovnik, we stayed in around eight hotels, and this was easily the worst experience we had in Europe. The staff were rude and unhelpful, which was a first for us on the trip and really soured the stay. The beds were awful. Parking was advertised, but when we arrived at check-in they said it wasn’t available. They offered no directions for finding the hotel or parking elsewhere, had no idea what that might cost, and were rude when we called for help. Overall, a huge disappointment. Good luck finding it without instructions.

Being so close to the old town was the main draw. The building itself is easy to spot, though the entrance on the side takes a bit of searching, and there are three hotels inside. The AC was nice and cold, but the bed was awful, with grooves you could feel from years of wear. The decorative bed blanket had what looked like blood on it, and there was mildew in a shower corner. It was an interesting experience, but I wouldn’t recommend it.

Friendly, helpful staff and spacious, well-kept rooms make this a good base for exploring Split. The hotel takes up two floors of an old building in the Old Town, and the location alone makes it worth considering. Off-site parking is available if you reserve it in advance.
