CroParadise Hostel & Apartments

The bathrooms were so cramped you could barely stand in the shower or use the toilet. They used to be closets. One obnoxious guy kept waking everyone up, both at night and in the morning, and refused to turn on the AC in August in Croatia. The staff backed the loudest, most obnoxious person, leaving everyone else without air conditioning. After midnight, I was also told to pack my things and move to another building. I’ve been backpacking for over three years and never experienced anything like it. The staffer on the night shift was consistently rude and clearly hated the job.

I was happy with my private room. The linen was clean, I could adjust the AC, and the bathrooms, shared by three rooms, were clean too. Having a small kitchen and balcony was handy, especially the line for drying swimsuits and other clothes. I could also leave my luggage before or after check-in and check-out without a problem, which suited me perfectly. The location was great: about 15 minutes from the beach, near a supermarket, and close to the old town.

The staff were super friendly, and there are plenty of restaurants and supermarkets nearby. The place is central, just a few minutes’ walk from the port, promenade, and beach. The rooms are in an old building, though, so noise from neighboring rooms carries clearly.

We didn’t like the place and gave it one star, and staff got angry with me and my friends for writing reviews. They pressured us to change what we’d written and said they wouldn’t let us stay otherwise. That’s no way to communicate with clients. If you want to avoid a terrible experience, find somewhere else.
