This was nothing like the Booking photos: it was one small ground-floor room for three people. At first, the staff said other people had booked this apartment, then offered to show us other places. Only after that did they agree to show us the apartment we’d booked. This guesthouse doesn’t seem like a suitable place to book an apartment.

TOURIST SCAM. DON’T BOOK, OR CANCEL YOUR RESERVATION. There was no communication beforehand, even though we tried twice to get in touch about our arrival time. The address is real, but when you call to say you’ve arrived, they tell you to go to Globe Travel, a travel agency. They said guesthouse Lion was unavailable and offered another place in the suburbs or outside town. At the agency we met a group of boys who’d booked with the same manager, but at a different house. They had exactly the same problem: they’d booked somewhere in town but were taken to a place 20 minutes away by car. You may be able to negotiate the price a little, even though the actual location is farther from the old town than the place you booked.

The owner was cheerful and stepped in to help when the owner of our other apartment let us down. The location is great, and we’d happily choose Guesthouse Lion again if we return to Split. Strongly recommend it. 👍🙂

Our booking was canceled, and we were sent to a really unpleasant apartment instead. Renting here turned into the worst experience ever. This feels like a scam!

The room was spotless, and the staff were easy to reach around the clock whenever we had questions or needed help. The location was convenient too. We had a great stay and would definitely come back.
