Guesthouse Imperator

The room was clean and had everything we needed, even a spot to cook and keep food if you’d rather not eat out. The staff were friendly and shared some nice ideas for places to eat and visit nearby. Highly recommend.

Our room was spacious, with windows on two sides, a little kitchen area, a fridge, and air conditioning. It was all very clean, the bathroom was large, and the shower was great. Before we arrived, Krešimir sent directions and a guide to the apartment, and was helpful with suggestions for nearby places. The trouble came on our final night. A band from a nearby restaurant set up on the steps to our apartment, so we had to climb over them to get inside. They played bad karaoke late, apparently until 1 a.m. We had a 6 a.m. ferry to catch and were not happy about it. I’m not sure I’d book again.

The rooms are modern despite the guesthouse being in an old building, and there’s a small kitchen for cooking or making coffee. I stayed for a week and wasn’t disturbed by noise, even though the building is only 50 meters from the city’s busiest plaza. The old Roman Emperor’s home from AD 305 is a two-minute walk, and the waterfront is three minutes away. It’s tucked down a small lane in the old town, about five minutes from the nearest parking area along fairly easy roads with few steep changes in level. A hidden gem, in my opinion.

We came, saw, and slept 🙂‍↔️ The apartment was spotless, tidy, and had everything we needed. The bed was really comfortable, and the street was quiet at night.
