The front desk lady was kind and helpful, and before we headed to our next destination she suggested Klis Fortress and Krka National Park, both nearby. Krka National Park is incredibly beautiful. We had a wonderful stay in March, just a minute’s walk from the main palace hall. After dinner, we explored the old palace while it was quiet and uncrowded. That was a special experience and one of the highlights of our trip.

The staff were friendly and helpful whenever we had questions or concerns. We had quad rooms with three people in each, and they were comfortable. Being inside the maze of Diocletians palace made it easy to explore Split, and those quiet early coffees and late walks through the squares felt special. There’s a restaurant right outside the windows, so noise bothered us one night. The rooms could use some refinement to feel worthy of four stars. Parking was a hassle for us and took quite a bit of tech savvy.

The old town walls give the hotel character, and the location is perfect. Our room was lovely and quiet, the staff were friendly, and it was clean. Breakfast was decent, too. I was worried after reading the reviews once my partner booked it, but honestly, our stay was brilliant. I can’t understand all the hate. Maybe there’s new management?

The location was outstanding, but we won’t be back. This is a bare-bones hotel, nowhere near luxury. The room is tiny, and the bed frame has sharp corners that’ll hack your ankles. There’s a mini fridge, but no coffee maker or kettle at all. The downstairs coffee machine doesn’t get turned on until 6. Noise was another problem: stomping in the hall every night and young people carousing outside our first-floor window. Breakfast could have been adequate, but it was stone cold every morning.

I got there a little after 6 PM, when pretty much everything else had closed. The hotel has cute rooms, some small parts, and a great location. I’d give them three stars.
