Historic Plaza Varos Split

The room had lots of character and was clean and cool. The receptionist was lovely and helpful with everything we asked. It’s about a five minute walk from the main Old Town, close enough for the bars and restaurants but quiet too.

The location is the one good thing, about five minutes from the centre of Split. Otherwise, I wouldn’t recommend it. It’s marketed as a hotel, though it should be a hostel or apartment, and it’s very expensive for life in Croatia. The service was mediocre, and when we arrived at 4 pm our room still hadn’t been prepared. Another hotel taking advantage of tourists.

Finding a place to park could be difficult if you arrive by car, or even by bike, especially when there’s a special event on. The hotel doesn’t have its own parking.

It’s close to Split’s main square, about a 10 minute walk from the port and Diocletian’s Palace. But I don’t recommend staying here. It’s an apartment, not a hotel, yet they charge like a four star hotel even though it’s three stars, and it was very expensive. Check-in was at 2 pm, but we arrived at 4:30 and one room was still dirty and smelled awful. The receptionist apologized, then we waited an hour and a half for it to be cleaned. I asked for free breakfast, but they said no and offered a discount that wasn’t enough.
