When an emergency in the UK forced me to leave after just two days, the hotel kindly offered to refund the four nights I’d missed. That level of customer service deserves five stars from me. The staff were friendly and especially helpful with restaurant suggestions. The hotel is well placed for the old town, harbour and restaurants, and my room was clean, comfortable and roomy for one person. I also appreciated having a gym, sauna and whirlpool. Breakfast was a good continental spread with meats, cereal, toast and pastries.

The online pictures didn’t match the room, and the €200 price wasn’t justified by what I got. After I complained that the room wasn’t up to the amount charged, they didn’t even offer a small bottle of water. At €100 it might have been okay. The motorcycle parking didn’t feel very safe either. Be warned, I’d avoid this hotel.

We went into the Palace walls area several times a day because this place is so well located. The rooms are quaint, breakfast was great, and sitting on the balcony had a lovely local feel. The jacuzzi was a letdown, though, it was ice cold and shouldn’t be listed as an amenity on the website.

The staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, and it felt like good value for the money. The hotel is close to both the old town and the seaside promenade. It’s in a traditional building, renovated inside to a high modern standard.

The reception team really stood out, always ready to help with a smile. The hotel is about 200 meters from the harbour and old town, and our spacious room had a lovely view of the sea and cruise ships. The bathroom was just as nice. There’s a small but nicely designed lobby, plus a gym, sauna, jacuzzi, hot tub and spa downstairs. Breakfast in the lobby-level restaurant was very good. Great value for money.
