Mijama Suites

The friendly man who checked us in gave us helpful recommendations, and the balcony had a nice view. The location was central in Diocletian’s palace, and our room was spacious and mostly clean. We stayed for two nights, though there was a moldy water stain on the ceiling. Other problems added up: the towels were thin and had holes, and the creaky bed kept waking us whenever we moved. Staff weren't always on site or at reception because they manage several properties. The stay fell short of what I expected, and I wouldn't recommend it.

We booked the top suite, which sleeps three comfortably and could fit four with a squeeze, or with children. The little balcony up in the suite had amazing views. The innkeeper called the day before to check when we’d arrive, then was there to meet us, which helped confirm we’d found the right place. We came on a sunny day in mid-May, and the location is so convenient, inside Diocletian Palace and just steps from the Riva. I’d seen comments that it’s hard to find, so I posted a video with simple directions.

The hotel is tucked into a quiet spot inside the walls, away from the crowds, but it’s perfectly placed for exploring Split and the surrounding area. It’s right in the city center, and breakfast at the nearby restaurant was good. Our room was spacious, wonderful, and super clean. The front staff were kind and quick to respond while we planned our arrival. Finding the place was a bit tricky, and getting luggage through the crowds and up the stairs takes some effort. The balcony wasn’t much of a balcony and had no view, though that was okay.

Mijama Suites is in the middle of the old city, so you can get out early before it gets crowded, and it’s still somehow quiet at night. The room looked recently renovated and was very clean. The front desk was really helpful with our bags and gave us excellent dinner recommendations. There are a few steps up to the entrance, and there’s no elevator, so be ready for that. The service and location are hard to beat. Highly recommend staying here when you visit split.
