Tony gave us the warmest, most helpful welcome we've had on our travels. The top-floor room and balcony were the highlight, looking out over the square and the Cathedral. Such a perfect spot for our night in Split. Thanks, Tony, for making us feel so looked after.

The stairs are worth keeping in mind, so I'd suggest booking only if you're reasonably fit. But the location is wonderfully central, right among the old palace ruins, and once we found the tiny entrance beside an ATM, the room worked perfectly for us. There are comfy twin beds, a TV, hairdryer and safe, plus a great bathroom with a fab shower. Just outside the room is a little kitchen area with a water dispenser, coffee machine, kettle, microwave, treats and discount vouchers. If you can manage the steps and don't mind the bells ringing early, it's a little gem.
