Splendida Palace

We booked the biggest room on the top floor, and it was spacious and very comfortable. The mattresses are firm, and there are lots of windows for cool sea air, so we slept really well. The hotel is small, with a lovely little pool that isn’t heated. It looked inviting, but in mid-May it was too cold for a swim. Breakfast had plenty of variety and was good. We loved our stay and give it five stars. You’re about an eight-minute stroll from the city center, which suited us because staying inside the palace walls means dealing with lots of daytime cruise traffic. The service was exceptional. Marija and Dea took care of everything and anticipated what we might need. Dea found us a great restaurant for dinner, and Marina was quick to answer emails before our trip. Enis, the recommended driver, was also top notch. He picked us up at 1 a.m. after our flight was delayed and later drove us to our sailboat in Marina Frappa. If you’re visiting Split, skip the big hotels and stay here.

The complimentary breakfast was a real surprise, with a tower of sweet and savory treats, fresh fruit, and made-to-order choices like pancakes and omelets. Try the local salami, kulen, and the overnight oats were the best we’ve ever had. Service throughout was professional and attentive. The rooms were comfortable and well equipped. There’s a grocery store and a laundry just a couple of blocks away. From the moment we arrived, it felt like we’d found a gem. Dea at the desk welcomed us with Maraska cherry brandy, which was amazing, with a flavor similar to Luxardo, and gave us a helpful overview of nearby activities and the area’s history.

We stayed four nights with friends at the Splendida and had a wonderful time. Maria, Dea, and Zeyka gave us the best hotel service we’ve ever had, from our arrival through our ride to the airport. They welcomed us warmly, suggested places to eat and visit, and made us feel like family. Nothing was too much trouble, even letting us try fresh homemade cakes before they were served at breakfast. Breakfast was a fantastic spread that set us up for the day. The rooms were modern and clean, and housekeeping was first rate. It’s hard to put into words how good the stay was. Maria and her team made us feel special, and we wouldn’t hesitate to return.

Breakfast was plentiful and filling, with options whether you wanted something light or a full meal to start the day. The hotel is only 5-10 minutes from Diocletian's Palace, the harbor, and the start of the Riva. Staff were excellent, and the room was kept clean with top quality facilities. Marija, the manager, was especially helpful with questions and bookings.
