The locked front door was the worst part: my friend had a 7 AM flight, but we couldn’t get out. We searched the whole property for another exit and found none. It felt like we were trapped inside, with no way out if something happened. Management has declined to speak with us so far. Before that, there were plenty of problems. We were told to pay cash only after arriving, with no warning, and the restaurant next door also only took cash. The hostel owns the bar beside it, where music played until 11:30 at night and made it feel like we were next to a nightclub. The beds squeaked whenever anyone moved, waking people up, and someone banged on all the doors in the middle of the night. I can’t recommend Cool Hostel to anyone.

There can be drilling nearby, so light sleepers who stay up late should keep that in mind. Otherwise, it’s about as good a hostel as you’ll find for a very reasonable price. Reception were friendly, patient and gave great help to one of us after an injury. There’s a good restaurant next door, too.

The biggest thing I missed was somewhere to sit and unwind or chat with other travelers. You could only hang out on your bed in the room or in the kitchen, which was pretty small. The rooms themselves were clean and comfortable, and everyone had a little lockable cabin for their things. Staff weren’t much help and spoke very little English. It’s also still a 30-40 minute walk to the old town.

Dominik was always there when we needed help and sorted out any problem that came up. I’ve never had that kind of high quality service in a hostel. Definitely recommend it to everyone.
