Admiral Hotel

We lasted just one night and left the next morning. With the windows shut, the room got stuffy and hard to breathe in; open them and the noise and exhaust from the ten-lane road right outside were unbearable. The ventilation and climate control weren’t working. We have no intention of returning and wouldn’t recommend it.

The room was spacious, with a beautiful modern bathroom, and the bar prices were reasonable. We had a lovely stay and can’t wait to return next year. The hotel is modern, clean, and the staff are friendly and attentive. We stayed three nights in August and were given a free upgrade to a superior room. It’s outside central Zagreb, but convenient for us because my mum lives ten minutes away. Breakfast was excellent, with plenty of hot and cold buffet choices and fresh coffee on request. The outdoor terraces are lovely in summer. We didn’t use the casino. The one thing we disliked was smoking being allowed in the indoor bar, especially since one of the terraces is already for smoking. We’d definitely recommend the hotel.

I stay here for the location, and the parking is free and always available. The breakfast is very good, and room service is quick and good. Minibar prices are decent, and the room has slippers and a bathrobe. You can theoretically make coffee or tea. The room looks fancy, but parts like the shower floor and carpet are dated. There are so many lights and it’s unclear how to switch them all off, so I ended up unscrewing some bulbs. It’s incredibly noisy, facing the traffic light on an eight-lane avenue. Ventilation doesn’t work, so the window is the only way to get fresh air. The elevator smells unpleasant, and casino visitors smoke very close to the entrance. Tip: provide complimentary bottled water in each room. Zagreb tap water hasn’t been drinkable in recent years.

We arrived at 8 PM and check-in went smoothly. The room was pleasant and had what we needed. Our window faced the main street, so there was some traffic noise at night, but it was fine for a short stop. Breakfast was very good, with lots of choice. We’d come back for another stopover.
